A dark lager popularised in the Bavarian region of Germany. This beer has all of the character of lager with the body of a dark beer. Serve ice-cold. OG 1040 - 1044.

The Muntons Connoisseurs Range has been formulated to brew strong beers emulating beer styles from around the world.

Each Beer kit contains 1.8kg of 100% hopped malt extract - and in common with all Muntons beer kits, no cheap barley syrup is used in their manufacture.

Bought this beer after falling in love with the German Dunkel at Oktoberfest. Made it with 50/50 sugar/light malt extract and bottled it. first few were ok, not much flavour. however the last bottle which was about 3 months old was absolutly lovely!!! I'd recommend brewing again with a darker malt extract instead of sugar, and then a long conditioning period in a bottle - lovely straight from the fridge.

This beer fermented well and cleared quickly in the bottom tap barrel i put it in. If you hold it up to the light is looks like a mild as its quite ruby in colour. Its taste is very mild too - far too mild for me actually. It basically is a dark coloured lager. If you are a lager drinker this may well be a nice varient for you (was going to say change but it not that different). I'll stick to my bitter & stout!
